1. What does innovation mean to you as a racing driver, and how do you innovate your racing strategy compared to traditional approaches?
Innovation in racing is all about pushing boundaries, whether it's through training, data analytics, or mental preparation. I try to focus on a blend of traditional driving fundamentals with modern tools like racing simulators and data analysis to improve as a driver. Since racing is incredibly physical, I also incorporate specialized strength training to improve endurance and control. I believe innovation is about constantly evolving as a driver and finding ways to gain even the smallest competitive edge.
2. How do you use social media to change perceptions in racing?
Social media is a powerful tool for breaking stereotypes and showing the reality of being a professional driver. I use my platforms to share both my racing and my lifestyle. Yes, I am a professional driver, but there is so much more to me than that– and I love sharing that with my followers. There’s a misconception that you have to fit into a specific mold to be taken seriously in motorsports, and I want to change that. I can be feminine, love fashion, and still be a fierce competitor on the track. By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire more young women to see that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to.
3. What's your process for making split-second decisions during races?
When you’re racing within inches of other cars at over 180 mph, there is no room for mistakes. Racing is all about instinct and preparation. When I’m on track, I rely on muscle memory, quick reflexes, and a deep understanding of my car’s handling to make decisions in a fraction of a second. Trusting your gut is a huge part of this, like knowing when to go for an overtake or when to hold back and set up a better opportunity. Experience, training, and staying mentally sharp all play a huge role in making those calls under pressure. Sometimes you don’t make the right decision, and this is something that happens to every driver and you have to learn from your mistakes for the next race.
4. As a female driver, what's your approach to creating change in motorsports?
For me, change starts with visibility. There aren’t enough women in racing, and part of that is due to a lack of representation. By showing up, competing at a high level, and staying true to myself, I want to prove that gender doesn’t define a driver’s capabilities. I also make it a point to call out outdated mindsets and push for a culture shift where female drivers are seen as equals, not exceptions. I want to open doors for the next generation so that young girls watching today see motorsports as a space where they belong.
5. What's your biggest challenge in innovating your racing technique?
One of the biggest challenges has been adapting to the physical demands of open-wheel racing. Unlike some other types of cars, these don’t have power steering, and the downforce is intense, which requires a lot of upper-body and core strength. I’ve had to step up my training significantly to build the endurance necessary to stay competitive in long races. This year I will be racing sports cars, which have power steering but are physically demanding in the sense of heat in the cockpit– since there is no airflow in the car. Beyond the physical side, I am always trying to better myself as a driver and get more experience on the track. You can always be a better driver.
6. How will you continue pushing boundaries in motorsports?
I will continue to race at the highest levels in motorsport, constantly pushing myself to be the best driver I can be. I’ll continue to represent women in a sport that is male prominent, and show girls and women that you can do anything you set your mind to. I want to continue using my platform to challenge outdated perceptions and advocate for more diversity in the sport. The goal is always to grow, both as a driver and as a force for change in motorsports.
7. Looking to the future, how will you continue to be a leader in innovation and motorsports?
I’m always going to be pushing myself to become the best driver I can be. By vigorous physical training, driving on my simulator, and getting more seat time, I will continue to push myself to be an inspiration for others. Off the track, I want to continue building a brand that challenges stereotypes and encourages more young women to enter racing. I hope to be part of a movement that makes motorsports more inclusive and accessible, proving that success in this industry comes in many forms. The future of racing is changing, and I’m excited to be a part of that transformation.
